Police investigate shots fired at officer called to Fremont motel

Police are investigating after shots were fired at an officer responding to a call at a Travelers Inn.

The investigation began after police from a neighboring county called and asked a Fremont officer to do a welfare check at the motel. When the Fremont officer got there around 10:50 am, someone inside the room shot at the officer.

The officer was not injured and was not hit. However, the suspect barricaded themselves inside the motel. Negotiators are speaking with the individual. The motel was evacuated and nearby businesses were advised to use their lockdown protocols.

There is a large police presence at the motel as of the time of this report. State Road 120 is closed about a mile around the motel during the investigation.
