Mother in child death case back in custody after violating no-contact order

The mother of a child allegedly strangled to death by her boyfriend was back in court Tuesday after FaceTiming one of her other children.

ABC21 previously reported 28-year old Crystal Belcher was arrested after her daughter Jocelyn died back in January. Emergency crews responded to the 200 block of East Butler Street on reports of an issue with a 2-year-old child. The child, identified as Jocelyn Dawn Rana Belcher, 2 of Fort Wayne, died and the coroner ruled the death as a homicide.

On Tuesday, Belcher was back in court after being taken into custody for a hearing to revoke bond. Belcher, who has three other children, was found to have FaceTimed with one of the children, violating her no-contact order. Defense asked for a continuance, and there is a new trial date for January 15-17 of 2019.

Her boyfriend, Shane Patton, is still on the run. He is wanted on charges of neglect of a dependent and neglect of a dependent causing serious bodily injury. The charges come after police identified Patton as a person of interest in Jocelyn’s death.
