Captains offense crushes TinCaps, Fort Wayne moves into tie for final playoff spot

The Captains tallied at least one earned run off each of the five TinCaps pitchers who took the mound Thursday night, as Lake County beat Fort Wayne 12-4.

Will Benson had the biggest hit of the night, a grand slam in the fourth that put Lake County up 6-1.

West Michigan won its game on Thursday, so now the Whitecaps and TinCaps both have identical 31-34 records in the second half. Fort Wayne owns the tiebreaker, but West Michigan will host the TinCaps for the final three games of the regular season.

The TinCaps play their final home game Friday night, looking for a series win over the Captains.
