UPDATE: Victim in New Haven homicide identified

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WPTA21) –UPDATE: The Allen County Coroner identified the victim of Thursday’s homicide in New Haven.

The Allen County Coroner said the victim has been identified as Courtney Marie Brown, 24 of New Haven. Brown was found dead inside her home.

The cause of death has been identified as gunshot wound of the head. The manner of death is a homicide. Brown is the 34th homicide victim in Allen County for 2018.

UPDATE: Police have a man in custody after they say he killed his wife.

New Haven Police responded to a residence in the 1900 block of Medford Drive around 2:30 Thursday morning on a report of a possible homicide. They learned that 26-year-old Wiley Brown III walked into the department’s lobby and said he killed his wife.

When police arrived at the home they found a victim that appeared to have suffered head trauma. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brown was arrested in connection with the victim’s death. He was booked into the Allen County Jail and preliminarily charged with murder.

The Indiana State Police, Fort Wayne Police Department and New Haven Police Department were investigating the scene in the 1900 block of Medford Drive.

Police were at the home since between 2:30 and 3 Thursday morning. ABC 21 has a photographer at the scene and will provide an update as details become available.
