Police using state-of-the-art technology to hunt down flying drones.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – The Fort Wayne Police Department has upgraded their drones in an effort to keep people in the Fort safe.

The Fort Wayne Police Department has upgraded their drones with new technology which allows them to locate other drones in the sky and the location of its flyer.

While flying drones is not a new concept for the Fort Wayne Police Department, they said this upgraded technology will help keep officers and the public safe.

Many people in the Fort have expressed concerns around privacy, however, police said drones aren’t typically used unless it’s for an emergency.

“It will have a huge impact,” Michael Hickman, with Fort Wayne Police Department said. “I think the fear of somebody using the drone for a malicious act will significantly decrease because we’ll be out there and seeing where everybody is flying.”
