Fiesta corn recalled due to health risk

(WPTA21) — More than 64,000 cases of Fiesta Corn are being recalled because they were under-processed.

The recall involves Del Monte Foods’ canned fiesta corn seasoned with red and green peppers. The recall was initiated because of deviations in the commercial sterilization process. The under-processing could lead to life-threatening illness if consumed.

The recalled cans were packaged in 15.25-ounce (432g) cans with the following UPC number printed on the label: 24000 02770. The product will also have one of the following “Best if Used By” dates stamped on the bottom of the can:

The recalled cans were distributed to locations in 25 states including Alaska, Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
