Hoosiers prepare 330 Christmas baskets to give to families in need

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – Folks prepare 330 Christmas baskets filled with goodies to give to families in need at the annual King’s Community Outreach Christmas Basket Giveaway.

The King’s Community Outreach is partnering with the Fort Wayne UNITED’s TenPoint Coalition to host the 6th Annual King’s Community Outreach Christmas Basket Giveaway on Saturday.

The program aims to give Christmas baskets filled with clothes, blankets, food and gifts to families in need. Volunteers said they hope the baskets will bring families together with the holidays around the corner.

Founder of the King’s Community Outreach, Pastor Lewis A. King said many families do not have the financial means to provide meals to their kids and he hopes these baskets can bring joy and families together even if it’s for one meal.

“We want families to be able to share during a special time during this time of year,” King said. “If it was one meal that they can say they were able to sit at the table and fellowship with their families and friends, that meal is the one we want to provide and one day bring joy and peace to that family.”

The annual giveaway will begin on Saturday at 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. at King’s Barbershop.
