Rescue Mission served 3,000 meals to families across the Fort

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission served 3,000 meals to families across the Summit City in celebration of the Christmas holiday.

The Rescue Mission served all types of food from turkey, green beans, mash potatoes and desserts to families across the Fort.

Organizers of the Rescue Mission said all families are welcomed. They said families do not need to be low income or homeless to come in and grab a meal.

Organizers said they wanted the community to feel loved especially during this time of year.

All meals were free for families that came in.

A visitor said he’s been coming to this holiday tradition for the past five years. He said he comes not just for the food, but also for the love and support this community shows.

“These are all volunteers that all come in here and give their time,” Jerry Durnbaugh, a visitor said. “They make you feel right at home even though they don’t know you.”
