Wedge Baseball Camp celebrates 15th year

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – About 200 kids took part Saturday in the 15th annual Eric Wedge Baseball Camp at the ASH Centre.

Wedge, the Fort Wayne native who managed both the Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners after an injury shortened major league playing career as a catcher, was joined by area high school and college coaches and college players in imparting baseball skills, first to younger kids in the morning, and then to middle age kids in the afternoon in a hitting clinic.

Wedge puts on the camp through his Wedge Foundation and with the help of the World Baseball Academy.

He will continue his current role as minor league field coordinator for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2019, but admits he would like another shot at managing in the big leagues.
