Unicorn boots recalled due to choking hazard

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — Parents are being urged to take action after reports of a piece of a boot falling off that could pose a choking hazard.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall involves Cat and Jack “Chiara” toddlers’ unicorn boots. The boots were sold at Target and Google Express from October through November 2018.

The recalled boots were sold in sizes 5-13 and size 1. They are white with silver shimmer and have a white zipper and white faux fur lining. They also have a silver glitter unicorn horn, which is the cause of the recall.

The CPSC said four consumers reported the unicorn horn detached, posing a choking hazard. No injuries have been reported as of the time of this report.

People should take the boots away from children immediately and return them to any Target store for a full refund. Anyone with questions about the recall should call Target at 800-440-0680 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. CT, daily or online at www.target.com and click on “Recalls” at the bottom of the page, then on “Clothing” for more information. Consumers can also click the “Product Recalls” tab on Target’s Facebook page for more information.

The following model numbers, located on the inside tag of the boot, are being recalled.
