Fort Wayne home to several Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — While Saint Patrick’s Day is Sunday, Fort Wayne has a weekend full of events lined up.

Saint Patrick’s Day weekend starts at Deer Park Irish Pub Friday at 6:15 with the tapping of the first green keg. The pub has a weekend of events including music, a race, keg toss and parade.

Fort Wayne Professional Firefighters is hosting the annual Get Green Fest Saturday starting at 8 am. The event starts off with a 5-Kilt run/walk through downtown. The deadline for online registration is 6 pm Thursday, you can also register Friday from noon-8 pm at packet pick-up.

The Fort Wayne firefighters will turn the Saint Mary’s River green at 11 am Saturday during Get Green Fest using eco-friendly vegetable dye. Other events are planned throughout the day.

RISE, Inc. & Chapman’s Brewing Company are hosting an event Saturday. The celebration features a traditional Irish meal and music from local artists. Proceeds go to benefit RISE, Inc. clients.

Fresh Thyme Farmers Market is also taking the opportunity Saturday to provide live entertainment, coloring stations and samples.

JK O’Donnell’s Irish Ale House will start celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at 11 am Saturday. All ages will be welcome until 7 pm. The restaurant will remain open to customers 21-years-old and older until midnight. There will be live performances Saturday and Sunday.

On Saint Patrick’s Day, O’Sullivan’s will open at 7 am. Visit Fort Wayne says it is one of the most popular St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in town. It’s packed year after year, so be prepared to wait in line.  There will be bands on Friday and Saturday at 10 pm, green beer on tap from noon until 3 am Saturday and Sunday.
