Best friends react after learning police arrested man in connection with fatal 2016 shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – Close friends reacted after learning police arrested a man in connection with a fatal 2016 shooting.

In 2016, police found Brian Quintana laying in the parking lot of the Woodbridge Apartments in Fort Wayne. Police said Quintana suffered from a gunshot wound. Officers said Quintana was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officers arrested Kevin Hamilton in connection to Quintana’s death.

Friday afternoon, police arrested 19-year-old Devyn Yancey in connection to Quintana’s death. Yancey is charged with a count of murder, felony murder and robbery.

“Didn’t really believe he could really kill one of our friends that we all knew,” Alex Grajales, one of Brian’s best friend said.

Another best friend said Yancey’s arrest helped bring closure to some friends.

“It’s just a good feeling to know that your friend got some kind of justice through the horrible things that happened,” Mark, one of Brian’s best friend said.

Some of Brian’s best friends left Brian a final message.

“Even though he’s gone, all of his friends, we’re still good and he’s watching all over us,” Mark said.

“I love you so much Brian and I miss you,” Grajales said.

Court documents showed that Yancey was charged with criminal recklessness and carried an unlicensed handgun back in 2018.
