Jefferson Pointe resubmits for shop-side street

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – A proposal that would allow vehicles to drive through the middle of Jefferson Pointe has been resubmitted to Allen County for consideration.

Department of Planning Services documents show the owners of the southwest side outdoor mall filed this week to run a road through the heart of the property, with several dozen parking spaces part of the design.

It comes about three months after a similar pitch was withdrawn by Jefferson Pointe’s owners. At that time, they said the withdrawal would allow more time to “pursue economic development assistance” to pay for the changes.

Jefferson Pointe opened in 2000 and was sold back to the initial development group in 2018. The new owners have pledged improvements in hopes of attracting both customers and businesses.
