Essex football camp returning in June

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WPTA21) – Trai Essex, the former Harding star athlete who won two Super Bowl rings with the Pittsburgh Steelers as the highlight of his career as an NFL lineman, will again host a youth football camp in New Haven.

The event for kids grade 3 through 8 in the Fort Wayne and New Haven communities will be free and be cohosted by New Haven High School, Essex’s adopted alma mater after Harding closed over ten years ago.

It will be a non contact camp with no helmets or pads and will focus on the fundamentals of football, with New Haven coaches and players instructing, along with Essex and possibly a few of his friends from the NFL.

Due to construction around New Haven High School the camp will be held June 9th and 10th from 6:00 to 8:30pm at the New Haven Community Center Field at 7500 SR 930 East, behind McDonald’s.
