Governor honors Blackhawk Christian boys basketball team

INDIANAPOLIS (WPTA21) – Gov. Eric J. Holcomb joined the Indiana High School Athletic Association at the Governor’s Residence on Friday to host the 2019 boys and girls championship basketball teams, including one championship squad from Fort Wayne.

The teams were invited to have lunch and shoot baskets on the Governor’s Court. They also posed for a photo shoot with the state’s top elected official.

Fort Wayne’s Blackhawk Christian School boys team was among those attending. The school took the IHSAA 1A State Championship in March, defeating Barr-Reve 60-43 in the title game.

Other schools in attendance on Friday included Michigan City-based Marquette Catholic, Kokomo-based Northwestern, Carmel, Hamilton Southeastern, Converse-based Oak Hill and Sellersburg-based Silver Creek.
