Three TinCaps earn All-Star status, then ‘Caps take down Captains

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — Not a bad day for the Fort Wayne TinCaps.

Infielder Xavier Edwards, starting pitcher Ryan Weathers, and relief pitcher Henry Henry all earned spots in the Midwest League All-Star Game, and the TinCaps ended the night with a 3-2 win over the visiting Captains.

Wednesday’s starting pitcher, Joey Cantillo (W, 3-2) had a great performance, going six innings, allowing three hits, and just one run (Jose Fermin’s homer in the third). Cantillo picked up seven strikeouts, against just one walk.

Earlier in the day, the TinCaps made their All-Star announcment

Edwards will start at second base for the Eastern Division in the Midwest League All-Star Game. He currently leads the League with a .348 batting average.

Weathers earns a spot after going 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA in eight starts.

Henry has put up some great numbers at the back end of the TinCaps bullpen, leading Fort Wayne with five saves and six wins.
