Wallen names new wooden bat league after alum Wedge
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – A new wooden bat league at the Wallen baseball complex on Fort Wayne’s North Side has been named for former Wallen player Eric Wedge.
Before he starred at Northrop High School, Wichita State University, and played and managed in the major leagues, Wedge cut his baseball teeth as a player at Wallen, starting with pre little league and advancing as he grew older.
Wedge has been a big supporter of the Wallen operation and says he likes his name being attached to the new four team wooden bat league that will prepared players for high levels of the game.
Wallen president Tim Mosbrucker says it was done to keep older players active at Wallen as they get older.
