Smith celebrates birthday with new Red Coat at annual Mad Anthonys event

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — Jaylon Smith has a lot to celebrate these days, especially on Friday.

Smith received his Red Coat Friday evening at the annual Mad Anthonys Foundation Dinner held at the Fort Wayne Country Club. The dinner also happened to fall on Smith’s birthday this year, and the organization honored him with a surprise cake and song.


Friday night, Jaylon Smith received his Red Coat at the Mad Anthonys Children's Hope House annual charity dinner.He knew that celebration was coming, but it also happened to be Smith's birthday, and the staff suprised him with a Cowboys cake, and a group sing-along.

Smith, a former standout and Bishop Luers and Notre Dame, currently plays in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys. The linebacker has risen to an elite level in the pros, after an injury in his final college game had cast his future in doubt.

In addition to his success in the sport, Smith has also made an impact in the Fort Wayne community through charitable efforts, including his new Minority Entrepreneurship Institute.

Friday, Mad Anthonys also gave out a Red Coat to Fort Wayne businessman and philanthropist John Tippmann, Sr.
