Edwards hits first pro homer, TinCaps take down South Bend

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — In the midst of an All-Star season, Xavier Edwards finally checked off one of the biggest items on his to-do list.

Edwards hit his first home run as a professional player, helping the TinCaps beat the South Bend Cubs 5-2 on Thursday.

The solo shot came in the fourth inning, a liner that just cleared the right field fence.

Fellow All-Star Ryan Weathers started for the TinCaps, throwing four scoreless innings. He gave up just two hits, with no walks and four strikeouts.
