TinCaps let lead, game get away at South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WPTA21) – Despite a good starting performance from Ryan Weathers the TinCaps came out on the short end of an 8-3 decision at South Bend on Sunday

Weathers allowed one run in five innings and did not walk anyone for a third straight start. He retired 13 of the last 16 batters he faced

The TinCaps built a 3-1 lead on a Justin Lopez RBI double in the fourth inning, and then got two more in the fifth due to a pair of South Bend throwing errors on Fort Wayne stealing attempts.

But a seventh inning three run double by South Bend’s Nelson Velasquez broke a 3-3 tie and the Cubs added two insurance runs in the eighth.
