BREAKING: FWPD officer under investigation by Allen Co. Sheriff’s Dept.

FORT WAYNE, IND. (WPTA 21) – A Fort Wayne police sergeant currently on military deployment is under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.

ABC 21 has confirmed that the individual at the center of the matter is Sgt. Andrew Beck.

Beck is currently on military leave and is not working with FWPD in any capacity at this time, but is still employed by the department.

Officials were unable to discuss the details of that investigation or the specific allegations.

Indiana State Police tell ABC 21 they have one officer assisting with the investigation, but that it is in the sheriff’s department’s hands.

According to FWPD’s Facebook page, Beck is an 12-year veteran and was promoted to the merit rank of Sergeant on June 11, 2018.
Sofia Rozales-Scatena, a spokesperson for FWPD sent the following statement:
At this time I can confirm there is an active investigation involving Andrew
Beck of the Fort Wayne Police Department. At this time I cannot relay the
type of investigation it is without possibly hindering the case. The
investigation is being conducted by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department
with assistance from the Indiana State Police.
At such time when we can divulge what the case involves we will do so.
Currently, Andrew Beck is not working in any police capacity within the
city as he is on military leave.
