Plane crash lands near Northrop High School

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A small plane crash landed near Northrop High School Friday night.

It happened around 7:30 on Disalle Boulevard, just shy of Smith Field near the high school. Police say the small single-engine plane experienced an engine stall after a mechanical problem. The pilot skillfully guided the plane down to avoid buildings in an office park.

Though the plane hit a tree, the two people on board were not hurt.

The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the cause of the crash.
