‘WOWO Fire Drill’ prepares students for possible evacuation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – For the 73rd time, WOWO Radio coordinated with local schools to conduct an exercise designed to save lives.

The annual WOWO Fire Drill teaches children the importance of preparation for an emergency that requires them to leave the classroom.

Holy Cross School served as a host school and pulled the alarm — with the radio station broadcasting the alert to other schools in the area.

The event is part of Fire Prevention Week.

Fort Wayne firefighters were set to go door-to-door Wednesday night, checking to see whose homes were in need of smoke detectors.
