One dead in overnight car-motorcycle wreck

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – One person was killed early Friday morning when a car and motorcycle collided at the intersection of Hanna Street and East Rudisill Blvd.

The accident happened about 12:45 a.m.

First responders arrived to find a the motorcyclist on the ground with critical injuries. He died a short time later.

Investigators said he was not wearing a helmet.

Preliminary information from FWPD: Initial information indicates the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on E. Rudisill Blvd when Cadillac that was traveling westbound on E. Rudisill Blvd. attempted to make a southbound turn onto Hanna St. in front of the motorcycle, causing the two vehicles to collide. No other vehicles were involved and the driver of the Cadillac was not injured.

The driver of the other vehicle, a Cadillac sedan, remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.

Fort Wayne police said alcohol did appear to be a factor, but no charges against the driver of the sedan were immediately filed.
