Toledo hands Komets first loss

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – Shane Berschbach’s mid second period goal broke a 2-2 tie and the Toledo Walleye went on to down the Komets 5-3 Saturday night, the first loss for Fort Wayne in the young season.

As they had in the their two wins before this game, the Komets got on the board first very early with Brady Shaw lighting the red light with just 1:02 gone in the game.

Shawn Szydlowski added another early score after Toledo had tied the game.

The second period saw the Walleye move to the lead with three scores, with the lone Komet tally by Matthew Boudens getting them as close as they would get at 4-3.

The Komets get their first taste of road action on Wednesday night at Kalamazoo.
