Fast pitch softball comes to World Baseball Academy

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – The World Baseball Academy hosted its first ever Hoosier Classic Girls Fastpitch Softball Tournament on its fields near the ASH Centre.

15 teams made up the three age divisions in the two day event.

It was the first such softball event since the fields at the WBC debuted last year, and temporary fences were acquired to go on the field, along with field arrangements for softball pitchers.  Those went on the three full sized baseball fields that were used for this weekend’s event.

A fourth field has been completed with softball specifications but was not fully prepared to be used with this event.

That field next spring will become the home field for both Bishop Dwenger and Bishop Luers softball.
