Boone pleads guilty to murdering wife in shared motel room

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — The jury trial for Tyrin Boone, accused of killing his wife at the Regency Inn, has been canceled after he pleaded guilty to murder.

WPTA21 previously reported Janaya Michelle Boone, 38, was found dead inside the Regency Inn on Coliseum Boulevard on December 12, 2018. Court documents say an employee at the Regency Inn called police after finding Janaya unconscious in a pool of blood in the room she was cleaning.

Documents say Janaya was the registered occupant of the room along with her husband, Tyrin R. Boone. Boone was arrested as a person of interest in the death on December 15.

Tyrin Boone was set to begin trial on Monday, but it was canceled after he plead guilty to one count of murder.

The plea calls for a sentence of up to 55 years in prison. Boone is set to be sentenced on November 15.
