WHEELING, W.Va. (WPTA21) — Hopefully the Thanksgiving game can live up to the level of excitement the Komets just experience on the road.
Fort Wayne erased a two goal-deficit in the third period, winning 5-4 in overtime on a Shawn St-Amant goal with just a few seconds left on the clock.
The Komets led 2-1 midway through the third, after goals from Brett McKenzie and Olivier Galipeau, but Wheeling responded with three straight scores of their own.
St. Amant sent in his first goal with 6:24 left in the third, then Kyle Haas tied it with 5:04 remaining.
The Komets and Nailers both return to Fort Wayne now, for the Bob Chase Memorial Game on Thanksgiving evening at 7:35pm.
