Man arrested after Kosciusko County police chase

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - He may have a famous last name, but that's not earning any special treatment for a man in Kosciusko County.

Sheriff deputies said they arrested Joseph Eugene Trump after a chase through the countryside. Trump shares no relation to the President, but is facing a heap of trouble.

Joseph Trump is accused of leading police on a drunken chase through Kosciusko County.

On Sunday afternoon, police say he was speeding in his pickup truck on Old SR 15 south of CR 900 North. When a deputy tried to pull him over, they say Trump tried to get away.

So began a chase that snaked along rural roads. Deputies say Trump's truck damaged properties in the Leesburg and Milford areas before slamming into a car on Levi Lee Road.

Still, police say, the suspect continued to drive in spite of heavy damage to the pickup. Trump drove into the Whispering Pines trailer park and was arrested as he tried to unlock the door of his trailer home.

Joseph Trump is charged with driving while intoxicated, resisting law enforcement (felony and misdemeanor) and leaving the scene of a property damage crash.

There were no injuries in the crash.
