PFW men win, women lose Summit League openers

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - Purdue Fort Wayne's men were victorious and the women were not in Summit League basketball season openers Wednesday against South Dakota.

The Mastodon men bested the visiting Coyotes 70-59, led by the 22 points of Jarred Godfrey and the 21 of Brian Patrick. No other Mastodon scored more than seven points as PFW raised it's record to 8-8 with the victory.

The Mastodon women came out on the short end of a 62-41 decision to South Dakota, falling apart in the second half after being in a 25-25 tie at the half.

Riley Ott led PFW with eleven points, while Sh'Toya Sanders chipped in seven points and ten rebounds.

PFW dropped to 4-10 with the loss.
