Kempf to step down from DeKalb football program

PETE KEMPF

DEKALB, Ind. (WPTA21) -- As first reported KPC News sports reporter Brice Vance, DeKalb football coach Pete Kempf will step down from his position.

Kempf informed his team of this decision on Friday.

Kempf took the head coaching job in 2014. This past year DeKalb had its first winning season since 2007, with an 8-3 overall record.

DeKalb athletic director Chris Rhodes told ABC21 that Kempf hoped to spend more time with his family.

The school will begin an official search for Kempf's replacement next week.
