Police: 14-year-old Ohio teen accused of raping a 5-year-old child

CELINA, Ohio (WPTA21) - A 14-year-old boy is accused of raping a 5-year-old child and is now facing charges in Mercer County, Ohio.

On Dec. 31, 2019, the Mercer County Sheriff's Department filed a complaint in the case.

Police in Ohio worked with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee to track down the 14-year-old teen.

Officers arrested him on Jan. 9, appeared in juvenile court in Tennessee and waived his extradition to Ohio.

On Monday, two Mercer County Sheriff's Deputies drove down to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to take him into custody and bring him back to Ohio.

Later that afternoon, the male was incarcerated at the West Central Ohio Juvenile Detention Center in Troy, the facility that normally houses juvenile prisoners for Mercer County.

He will be transported back to the Mercer County Juvenile Court at a later time for his initial court appearance.
