Holcomb set to make reelection effort official

Gov. Eric Holcomb

INDIANAPOLIS (WPTA21) - Gov. Eric Holcomb is expected to make his reelection campaign official on Tuesday, filing paperwork to launch his 2020 bid for a second term.

Holcomb's staff said he will be at the Secretary of State's office at 8:30 in the morning to complete the task.

The move was widely expected. Holcomb has been gearing up for the campaign, which will include a challenge from fellow Republican Brian Roth.

The two will square off in the May 5 primary -- the same day that Democrats will choose their nominee.

Woody Myers and Josh Owens are seeking the Democratic nomination. Libertarian Bill Levin is also running.

Holcomb defeated John Gregg in 2016 to become Indiana's 51st governor. He had served less than a year as lieutenant governor prior to his inauguration to become the top executive position.
