Fort Wayne Police said the shooting happened near the intersection of Abbott and Pontiac. The victim and someone driving him took him to an apartment complex, and then stopped at Vance and Santa Lisa Court where medics took him to the hospital.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - Allen County Prosecutors have filed a formal murder charge against a 19-year-old woman accused of shooting a man during an argument.

Kennisha Jackson is accused of shooting 19-year-old Diquan Meriwether on Jan. 14 at a home near Pontiac and Abbott Street.

After spending the weekend behind bars on a 72-hour hold on a preliminary aggravated battery charge, prosecutors upgraded the charge to murder.

Police said the violence stemmed from an argument concerning money.

Jackson told investigators the victim pulled a gun on her but dropped the gun.

She told detectives she picked it up and shot him.

A witness who was inside the home at the time of the shooting said she was upstairs when she heard Jackson and Meriwether arguing.

This woman made it halfway down the stairs when she saw both of them standing with guns at their sides.

She went back upstairs and that's when she heard one gunshot.
