FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) -- Standout student-athletes from 18 local high schools gathered at the ASH Centre on Tuesday afternoon, for the World Baseball Academy's 'Beyond the Game Leadership Luncheon.'

Tamika Catchings served as the keynote speaker at the event. Coincidentally, the former Indiana Fever star learned on Monday that she would be inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame later this year.

Former MLB player and manager Eric Wedge had previously helped run this event, but had to step away this year, after taking the head coaching job at Wichita State.

Tuesday's event honored 72 total students, selected by their athletic director for their accomplishments in and out of school.
