Fort Wayne expecting a busy weekend of sporting events

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - From wrestling to boating, the City of Fort Wayne is prepping for a big weekend full of sporting events.

Visit Fort Wayne expects area hotels, restaurants and attractions to see a significant uptick in business as more than 24,900 visitors will enter the city this President's Day weekend.

A dance, gymnastics, soccer, volleyball, basketball, and wrestling tournament will be hosted in Fort Wayne this weekend, on top of the Fort Wayne Boat Show.

The Memorial Coliseum is expecting to see 12,500 attendees this weekend at the IHSAA Boys Semi-State Wrestling event that's set for Saturday, and then the Fort Wayne Boat Show that runs from Feb. 13-16.

Two dance and gymnastics competitions are taking place over a three-day period with the Walk of Fame Classic at the Plassman Athletic Center at Turnstone, and the Speedy JAM Jamfest at the Grand Wayne Center.

Empowered Volleyball Academy and Pro Beach Junior leagues are expected to bring in 7,000 visitors to the Empowered Sports Club for their 2020 President's Day Smackfest, happening on Saturday and Sunday.

At The Plex South, the Indoor Soccer Winter Classic Showcase (Girls), is being hosted by the Fort Wayne United Futbol Club this weekend.
