Brady Shaw turned in another impressive performance, with two goals and an assist.
A short-handed score from Mason Bergh put the Komets up 3-1 midway through the third, before the Wings answered with a pair of goals before the end of the period.
Shaw and Drake Rymsha answered with a goal each to start the third. Kalamazoo drew within one after Justin Taylor's goal at the 11:59 mark, but the Komets were able to hold on after that.
