FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA 21) - FWPD homicide detectives have made an arrest in the fatal stabbing of a young woman who died after being rushed from an apartment complex to a hospital for treatment.
27-year old Alisha Lampkin is charged with murder.
The stabbing happened a little before 1 pm Tuesday in a parking lot of the apartments.
Michelle Fiig, who lives two doors down from where the attack took place, says when she heard the commotion she peeked out and saw two women and a man by a parked car.
One of the women had obviously been hurt.
"She collapsed, she was trying to get back up and she fell down again and then didn't get up after that," Fiig said.
She says the man yelled at Lampkin.
"He said why would you do something like that, and then the other girl got up and said I don't give a (expletive)."
Fiig got on the phone and called 911 for help and to provide a description of the stabber, who hopped in a car and took off.
She didn't get far because police also had a good description of the getaway car.
"Our homicide detectives, on the way here, were able to track down that person of interest and they're now in custody at this time," said Sgt. Sofia Rosales-Scatena with Fort Wayne PD.
The Allen County coroner's office will release the identity of the victim after an autopsy.
