FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - Dance Promenade! It's a new event downtown that looks to draw guests to the Park Foundation Pavilion during the winter months.

Last week, visitors learned the Cha Cha from guest instructor Melissa Culbertson of Anchor Room Dance Studio in Ossian.

She happens to be teaching this Wednesday's lesson: the West Coast Swing.

Every week from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. dance enthusiasts meet at Promenade Park.

"The class will give you the basics and then there's experienced dancers around who will give you the help," a participant told us.

"I like ballroom and I like West Coast Swing," another dancer said. "so if this was an event for both of those, I was interested."

Jennifer Brown of Riverfront Fort Wayne helped launch the event in January.

"You can totally come by yourself," Brown said, "most of the instructors actually encourage people to rotate partners because it helps you learn to dance with someone a little bit different... you know you can pick up, somebody's going to dance a little differently. I think it helps you learn."

Tickets are only $8 dollars if you buy them 48 hours in advance, or $10 at the door.
