FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — A man serving 70 years for burglary has pleaded guilty in a 2012 case that resulted in the death of an antique store clerk.

Zachery A. Doan, 25, was convicted of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury and burglary in 2014 where he was sentenced to 70 years behind bars.

Two years before that, prosecutors say Doan was responsible for the killing of J.R. Shimer II at Antiques on Broadway on New Year’s Eve, 2012.

In court on Thursday, Doan pleaded guilty to a felony charge of robbery and the murder charges were dismissed.

The Allen County Prosecutor's Office said the agreement would add 40 years to his current sentence if it is accepted.

Doan is set to be sentenced March 20.
