Blue Jacket puts grant to use, offers free cleanings to nonprofit groups

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - An organization that helps local residents train for and gain employment will use a grant to offer free cleaning services to nonprofit groups in the area.

Blue Jacket received the funding from the Foellinger Foundation, which recently announced a distribution of money in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Blue Jacket said the "Rapid Innovation Grant" allows it to provide a one-time deep cleaning for organizations that have temporarily shut down and repeated cleanings to those that are still open, such as shelters and food banks.

"We find that the lives of the folks who come through our Career Academy program are enriched through stable employment, something that in too many cases is interrupted right now with the shelter in place orders because of Covid-19," said Blue Jacket Director of Marketing Brad Saleik. "What has occurred over the last week of planning, due in large part to the generosity and problem-solving hearts and mindset of The Foellinger Foundation, is a wonderful case of 'necessity being the mother of invention.'"

To apply, an organization can call 260-744-1900 or email Heather Maley at
