Judge sentences man to 45 years for murder

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - A man who admitted to the stabbing death of a 75-year-old woman was sentenced to 45 years behind bars for the killing.

On Thursday, Allen County Superior Court Judge Fran Gull sentenced 62-year-old Juan Molina in exchange for his guilty plea.

He also received 314 days of jail credit.

ABC21 previously reported 75-year-old Sally Ann Duncan-Sanders was stabbed to death inside her home in the 3000 block of Lincolndale Avenue on May 14, 2019.

A probable cause affidavit filed with the Allen County Court said the person Sally’s grandson was dating told police that Molina was riding in her vehicle. He got out when she pulled into a neighbor’s driveway.

The witness told police she pulled out of the driveway to wait for him to come back. When he did. The affidavit said he was covered in blood, carrying a knife.

The witness told police that Molina told her to “keep her head up and drive.” The affidavit says she drove him to an address and into the garage, where he changed his clothes and put the knife away.

The department credits tips from the community that helped aid the investigation.
