ADAMS COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA21) - The Adams County Health Department is directing all in-person church services in the county to be cancelled.
In a letter sent to religious organizations, Adams County Health Officer Dr. Michael Ainsworth said in light of directives from the Federal and State governments, and the increase in cases of and deaths from the Coronavirus, he is directing all faith services be cancelled "until such time as officials determine it is once again safe for everyone."
Ainsworth said he understands and respects the importance of freedom of religion and separation of church and state, but that any gathering greatly increases the chance of the spread of Coronavirus.
This follows a similar order in Allen County earlier this week.
