HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WPTA21) - Huntington North became the latest area high school on Friday to honor the spring sports athletes who were denied a season by the coronavirus pandemic.
The salute came in the form of a cruise through Huntington, with two fire trucks, the Huntington North athletic bus, and a police escort leading a parade of 35 cars carrying many of the athletes.
Fans saluted the athletes at six spots along the seven mile route, and along the curbs as the vehicles passed.
The event, organized by both Huntington North students and staff, was dubbed the Viking Athletic Cruise Celebration In Neighborhoods Everywhere, or VACCINE.
