Police investigate early morning crash, shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - One man is dead after a car crashed into a Fort Wayne apartment complex.

Police say the driver of that vehicle was suffering a gunshot wound to the head.

Police say it was around 3:40 Monday morning that they received a call about a possible car crash at Woodview Manor Apartments.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a car had struck an apartment building. Police say they found the driver of the car with an apparent gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Witnesses told police there was a second person in the vehicle that took off on foot.

Anshious Aron, 18, called Fort Wayne Police Dispatchers around 4 a.m. to report his involvement.

Officers were able to find him in the area of Mirro Drive and Dean Drive.

Police brought him in for questioning, and afterword, he was preliminarily charged with aggravated battery and battery with a deadly weapon.
