FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) -- Fort Wayne homicide detectives arrested a man they believe is responsible for the stabbing death of a Fort Wayne woman in her apartment Wednesday.

David Lee Cortez Suel, 51, is preliminarily charged with aggravated battery and failure to register as a child molester.

Additional charges may be added after further investigation.

He's accused of stabbing 48-year-old Crystal C. Holmes in the chest at her apartment.

The violence happened at about 9 a.m. Wednesday at Baldwin Creek Apartments in the 2100 block of Hobson Road.

Police originally told ABC21 a male caller told them someone stabbed a woman during an armed robbery.

However, police learned the suspect and the victim were in a romantic relationship, leading them to believe the case was a domestic altercation and not a robbery at all.

Holmes was rushed to the hospital where she died from a stab wound to the chest.

Detectives thank citizens for giving tips and talking with them to help solve the case.
