FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - Fort Wayne Police believe a man wanted in connection to the shooting death of a woman in broad daylight is still hiding in the area.

Detectives want to talk to Martrell Weaver, 23, about the shooting death of 22-year-old Amanda Hoglund on Wednesday, June 24.

He's been on the run ever since.

First responders found her in a driveway in the 1900 block of Clarmarnic Drive suffering from gunshot wounds.

She died from her injuries, and the coroner ruled her death a homicide.

"We know people know where he is. We know people are actively hiding him," Fort Wayne Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Sofia Rosales-Scatena said.

"Martrell Weaver is a suspect in an execution-style murder of a young woman in broad daylight. So we would really like to find him, and we would like someone to give us information as to where he is."

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP.

Back in 2018, Weaver pleaded guilty to battery in a 2017 incident where he shot a man in the leg during a confrontation at the McDonalds on Bluffton Road.

Online court records show an Allen County Judge sentenced him to three years to be served in the Allen County Work Release and the home detention program.
