Fatal shooting Sunday morning at the Rodeway Inn is under investigation

Fort Wayne Police are investing the death of a woman at a motel Sunday morning. It happened around 4:10 am.

Officers responded to the Rodeway Inn located at 2920 Goshen Road. Dispatch received the call in regards to an unknown problem where a female was bleeding and lying on the ground outside of a motel room. More callers then reported the female had been shot.

When officers arrived at the scene they found the woman victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The Allen County Coroner's Office later identified the woman as 19-year-old Angel May Carter. The coroner ruled her death the city's 29th homicide.

Detectives were going door to door speaking to other motel guests and were in the process of review camera surveillance footage. Several witnesses are being interviewed.
