Utility worker electrocuted on U.S. 27

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - Indiana State Police responded to an electrocution of a utility worker on U.S 27.

Officers responded to the scene at 1:30 Sunday afternoon.

They said a person working on the lines was electrocuted on U.S. 27 just south of Interstate 469.

An ABC21 crew who arrived at the incident around 2:20 p.m. saw an ambulance rush from the scene around 2:35 p.m.

Reports say that the worker was airlifted to a nearby Fort Wayne hospital. Police say his medical condition is currently unknown.

Traffic lights are currently out in the area and police had the roads closed down just after Flatrock Road for a short amount of time.

Our crew also say that there were power lines down on the road.
