According to court documents filed Thursday, the victim told responding officers that "Quiel" shot him.

The officer who was tending to the victim caught this statement on his body camera, and the victim said he invited "Quiel" to his home, and the suspect shot the victim after he let him in.

Once medics rushed Stephens to the hospital, he later died.

An autopsy found he suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen, back, leg, and hand.

Fort Wayne Homicide Detectives and Indiana State Police located and arrested Derrick just south of Indianapolis just after 7 p.m., hours after the murder.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers found two handguns in his possession.

Once officers took him back to Fort Wayne, they asked for an interview, but he declined.

Derrick is due in court on Monday for an initial hearing.
